Hello, we are Cristina e Renato
We had wanted to have a trip to Africa for a long time, but we didn’t really know where to go nor how to plan it. The only thing we were sure about was that we would not go to such a beautiful albeit difficult and contradictory continent and stay in a luxurious resort and behave like the typical “village tourists”. So, by talking with friends we found out by chance that a boy of our town was working for a NGO in Africa, and more precisely in Tanzania. And through him we organised the trip that allowed us to meet Nino, Giovanna and their association, Kisedet. Nino and Giovanna allowed us to live in close contact with the authentic African reality, as we stayed in the tiny village of Kigwe, at about one hour drive from Dodoma. From there Nino let us know all the projects of their association, by taking us in the areas where they had built various schools in the neighbouring villages. Another very nice experience was the visit to the local market place where we could eat together with some locals, Nino’s friends. Moreover in Dodoma we also visited the orphanage run by Kisedet. We also remember with pleasure the party that the people from the village organized for our arrival, and even more touching, the ceremony with final lunch for our departure. It has been a moving trip, and right the way we had wanted it to be. We only regret having stayed too short, but the nice thing is that, even from Italy, every day we keep on living a bit of Africa thanks to the child sponsorship we have started. A worthy experience, that we recommend and that we will undertake again for sure.
